M atthew Hermann  

In 1999 I joined my mother’s real estate business to form The Hermann Group.   Before becoming a Realtor, I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York and had a successful career as an Executive Chef here in the Twin Cities.   Once my wife Brette and I had the first of our two children, however, we agreed that the restaurant business wasn't ideal for raising a family the way we wanted to.  Being in the restaurant business for over 14 years taught me how to work hard and how to manage the presure of everyday life.  As an Executive chef, organization, planning, communicating and time managment is crucial. The same is true in real estate.   

Growing up, my mom was always there for me when I needed her – greeting me after school or sitting in the stands at my hockey and football games – I could always count on her.   I want that for my family, too, especially now that we are involved in the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association.   Since I absorbed so much real estate knowledge through ‘osmosis’ while I was growing up, it was a natural transition to join my mother.

Beside the every day business of listing and selling homes, keeping our team up-to-date on available technology falls under my jurisdiction.   Maximizing our efficiency, productivity, and marketing options enables us to focus on our relationships with our clients and their needs.  

Naturally, Realtors spend a great deal of time “Showing Properties” to home buyers.   For our clients, that phrase has an additional meaning – it’s the name of my boat.   What better way to view lakeshore properties than from the Lake!

B rette Hermann

I have been assisting Patti Jo & Matt for several years with their marketing & other administrative duties.  During the past 9 years I have also built & ran a real estate marketing based design & print business, Created Cards.  My business consists of assisting real estate agents from all over the Twin Cities with marketing their listings, as well as miscellaneous administrative duties.  I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work from home while raising our children.  With both children now in school full-time, I have decided to take the next step & pursue a real estate career. 

As the newest member to the team, I bring extensive marketing skills, enthusiastic work ethic, and a love for real estate & working with people.  Combined with the seasoned experience, market expertise, and technology know-how that Matt & Patti Jo display, this growing team brings it all to the table.  You can be rest-assured you will have hard-working, honest, & ethical representation when working with The Hermann Group.  Each one of us guarantees to bring forth our best effort to represent & negotiate for your best interest.

I graduated from The University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree of Bachelor of Applied Science.  After graduating, I worked at a Care Center on the Alzheimer’s Unit as a Recreational Therapist.  I truly enjoyed my time working there with amazing people & residents.  When Matt & I had our son, Jacob, he had some health issues which kept me away from work too often.  It was at this time that we decided I needed to find a way to work from home, hence Created Cards was formed. 

Matt & I have two fast-growing children, Jacob & Mackenzie.  Jacob is entering 4th grade and loves sports.  He plays hockey in the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association & the Minnesota Showcase AAA program.  He also enjoys baseball, golf, skiing, and chess.  Mackenzie is entering 2nd grade in Minnetonka’s Spanish Immersion program.  A love for dance, hockey, soccer, gymnastics, and the water keep her busy.  As a family we love summers on the lake & winters watching Gopher hockey, as well as being spectators at the kids many activities (and even coaching a couple).  The time spent with our family & friends is never enough, but always very treasured.

While working from home has been a blessing while raising our children, I am eager to return to the work force again.  I have gained such a love & much knowledge through my business & work with Patti Jo & Matt.  I am excited for what the future holds for The Hermann Group & our clients!
